Bye Bye Distractions

We all have the distractions. Those things that pull us from every angle, be them in our mind or our environment. Wow 😳 sacrificing a workout comes so easily when a distraction gets in the way.

If you’re gonna take time to workout you gotta tell all those distractions to step back.

We all have the distractions. Those things that pull us from every angle, be them in our mind or our environment. Wow 😳 sacrificing a workout comes so easily when a distraction gets in the way.

How do I mitigate the distractions?

Here’s My Top 3 Ways:

  1. I put my phone on do not disturb and then I put it in a different area from where I’m working out 🏋🏼‍♀️. Because if it’s just on silent, I’ll hear the vibration of a call or text come through. Not to worry though: the people who are saved in your favorites are the only calls that can pass through the do not disturb setting. So you won’t have to worry about missing an emergency.

  2. I make sure my distractions are set up with their OWN distractions. Dogs 🐶 with bones, kiddo with something that can keep her busy, you know the things that will keep those physical distractions at bay even if it’s not for the longest period of time. Use them.

  3. I tidy up 🧹 before I workout. One of my biggest distractions is seeing clutter in my space or something that needs to be cleaned 🧼 when I go to workout. So I make sure I either workout in a completely different room or I give myself 5 minutes (with a timer so I don’t get distracted) to get it organized before I get going.

Whatcha Gonna Do?

Now I know that even on my worst and unmotivated days, it’s still a chance to give to myself and take care of myself. That might mean taking things down a notch if it doesn’t work for me that day, or even going extra hard because I can.

I’m not insensitive.

I just know this is an opportunity so it is what you make of it.

Being able to wake up ☀️, move your body, and create your own healthy lifestyle is a GIFT 🎁.

I never looked at being healthy in that light until I got hurt and the opportunity was taken from me.

Now I know that even on my worst and unmotivated days, it’s still a chance to give to myself and take care of myself. That might mean taking things down a notch if it doesn’t work for me that day, or even going extra hard because I can.

Either way, I don’t look at the choices I’m making as an inconvenience or an obstacle. I look at it as a chance to give to myself, to take care of myself when my time is valuable and my days are busy.

I know when I have those opportunities, big or small, that I need to take advantage of them so I can serve the community around me in a bigger way.

Instead of thinking of working out and being healthy as an obstacle or a struggle, find the part of it you love the most and focus on that especially during the times you don’t want to try.

Find that positive aspect of your healthy choices and hone in on those. Put those choices and how much better you feel on repeat. Create the gift for yourself and then continue to give it to yourself.

Every Workout Has a Quitting Point

That moment is the moment that matters the most. Because what you tell yourself in that moment will determine how you subconsciously handle your workouts.

Every workout 🏋️‍♀️  has a pivot point.

It’s that point in the workout when all you want to do is stop. When it’s just so hard that the idea of continuing makes you want to hurl. Just a little.

As long as you’re continuing to challenge yourself, you’re going to have that “I wanna quit” moment.

That moment is the moment that matters the most. Because what you tell yourself in that moment will determine how you subconsciously handle your workouts.

Be honest with yourself. When you’re in that moment, what goes through your head? What do you tell yourself?

Do you tell yourself how much the workout sucks? How much you hate whatever you’re doing? Do you tell yourself YOU suck?

Whatever that negative narrative is, it builds up over time and eventually you’ll associate your workouts with those negative vibes. Eventually that negativity will create excuses that lead you to skipping your workout and before you know it, you’re back to the starting block of achieving your fitness goals.

Start taking notice of where your head goes when the workout starts to challenge you. Start taking notice of what you’re telling yourself when the workout gets hard.

Then work on changing that narrative. You don’t have to do anything crazy, and yes, this does take practice, but even repeating “I can do this” when it gets hard will eventually help you push through those negative moments.

Be patent with yourself. It takes time to shift that line of thinking from “ugh this is SO horrible” to “fuck ya, bring it”, but I know you can do it. Focus on how strong you are, how far you’ve come and how GOOD you feel when you’re finished.

Because that feeling…no one can take it from you.

You're Great

Being healthy and living a healthy life is a journey, not a destination. I know we’ve sent certain goals for ourselves, and those goals for sure feel like destinations. Like when that 15 extra pounds are actually OFF. There’s your destination. I know you want to be at the end of your journey.

Fall in love with the process of becoming great.

Being healthy and living a healthy life is a journey, not a destination. I know we’ve sent certain goals for ourselves, and those goals for sure feel like destinations. Like when that 15 extra pounds are actually OFF. There’s your destination. I know you want to be at the end of your journey.

You want to be wearing those jeans that taunted you from the bottom of your drawer for FOREVER with confidence and sass.

And you will.

But once you reach that destination what do you do? Because I know the last thing you would want to have happen after you lose the 15 pounds is to put it back on and then some. Or feel like you hit a plateau on your workout and not know how to push through it.

It’s a process and hopefully one you’ll learn to relish and enjoy. You’re building a foundation of health for yourself, you’re setting an example for your kiddos, and most importantly you’re taking care of yourself. It’s a beautiful thing to become great, to discover your strength and step into your power.

Maybe you know how to get that weight off, maybe you know what to do to make sure you’re eating healthy, maybe you’re already doing it.

If you are, that’s awesome. But it won’t do any good if you don’t know how to maintain it, and trust me, it’s only going to lead to frustration if you slide backwards.

Schedule your 15 minute free consultation via the link below to make sure you have the right foundation for success.
