Bulletproof Coffee

apparently my circus didn't get the memo

That Sunday is a day of rest. Which means I don't want to feel like I'm getting shot out of a canon first thing in the morning. I'll save that chaos for the rest of the week.

Nope. My circus apparently slept like rocks last night, because they ALL woke up this morning rip roaring and ready to take on the WORLD. Not me though. While I fulfilled all the requests made of me as soon as the day began, because it all happened before coffee, I don't remember any of it.

Let me back up though. Prior to a few days before, I never bought ghee. Sure I've seen people raving of it, seen people trying to make it, but I also saw the cost of it in the store and promptly said "No thank you", because butter in my mind should NOT cost more than $10.

But then I went to the store hungry AND on a massive sale day. So the ghee that was normally over $10 was $5.99 and I thought "What the heck?", this is happening. And OH. MY. GOODNESS. Mind blown, life changed, I'm NEVER buying butter again. I'm serious. The sale was still going on the next week, I went back and bought THREE more containers of ghee. It's THAT GOOD.

So on this morning of sheer exhaustion, where I've dressed someone up like Moana, fed everyone in the house and colored all before I got coffee, I thought to myself "well I have this fancy ghee, I should make this fancy butter coffee everyone raves about."

I kept mine simple. I don't keep supplements like collagen or MCT in my house, so none of that got added in, but I know the importance of healthy fats in the morning (especially for us ladies), so I grabbed my coconut oil, my ghee and made my coffee.

Simply put, I will never have plain boring coffee again in my life. This is completely worth the extra minute to make, I would 1,000% drink this at room temperature, it truly is that amazing.

A word to the potentially faint at heart though: it is a tremendous amount of fat in your system first thing in the morning which can cause some (cough cough) fun side effects for some, so if you are not used to all this fat first thing in the morning, start off slow and build yourself up to the full tablespoon of both.

Bulletproof Coffee

Prep time: 2 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Serves: 1

12 oz of your favorite coffee, brewed

1 tblsp coconut oil

1 tblsp ghee

Almond milk to taste (optional)

Brew your coffee in your favorite brew method. I prefer a French Press, but a regular coffee maker will do the trick too! Pour your coffee into your blender, add in the coconut oil, the ghee and the almond milk (if you're using), blend on a medium to low setting for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
